21 Leadership Thoughts – Maxwell

Here are 21 thoughts from my leadership reading today. All are quotes of partial quotes from John Maxwell:

  1. Appreciate people for who they are.
  2. Believe that they will do their very best.
  3. Praise their accomplishments.
  4. Accept your responsibility as a leader in their life.
  5. Create one heartbeat as a team.
  6. People can grow, develop, and become more effective if they have a leader who understands their potential value.
  7. Those closest to the leader will determine the success level of that leader.
  8. A company cannot grow on the outside until the leaders grow on the inside.
  9. New goals require changes to the existing system.

  13. People who share a common direction and sense of community get where they are going more quickly and easily because they are traveling on one another’s thrust
  14. Unless you want to carry the whole load yourself, you need to be developing leaders.
  15. Leaders create and inspire new leaders by instilling faith in their leadership abilities and helping them develop and hone leadership skills they don’t know they possess.
  16. What are we trying to accomplish?
  17. Most people produce only when they feel like it. Leaders produce even when they don’t feel like it.

  20. A leader cannot demand of others what he does not demand of himself.
  21. Focusing on a person’s strengths promotes positive growth, confidence, and success as a potential leader.
